The Scene reports:

Vandals spray-painted insults on a mosque overnight and left a threatening letter to Nashville’s Muslims. Islamic leaders blame Channel 5’s sensationalized two-night report on a crackpot organization’s unfounded accusations against a Middle Tennessee Muslim community.
The mosque is Al-Farooq Mosque on Nolensville Road, which primarily serves members of the Somali community. Vandals spray-painted “Muslims Go Home” and a Crusaders’ cross on the walls, says Salaad Nur, a mosque spokesman. He says the mosque has contacted the police and the FBI.
“They also left a letter at the youth center that says Muslims are friends of satan and we are here to destroy the United States and to destroy Israel and things of that nature,” he says. “We’re a little bit shaken up. I hope this is just a scare and things don’t get any worse than this.”

About

Sometimes I write things on Nashvillest.com and other times I work a real job that involves lots of airports, hotels, spreadsheets and the occasional pantsuit. Avid roadtripper, lover of redbud trees and firm believer in taking the scenic route. These are a few of my favorite things.

Ask me anything.
