PSA: Metro’s Non-Discrimination Ordinance

If you’re in Nashville, an important ordinance is being introduced in the Metro Council tomorrow. Ordinance BL2009-502 amends the language of the city’s code to prohibit the Metro Government from discriminating based on sexual orientation or gender identity in its employment practices. The ordinance matches some others adopted previously by Metro Nashville Public Schools, the Tennessee Board of Regents, and lots of other private employers like Vanderbilt, Firestone/Bridgestone, Ford, GM, First Tennessee Bank, Federal Express, and many others. This one will only affect Metro employees.

If you think about it and feel like it, find out who represents your Council district and send them a note asking them to support the ordinance.
